Since leaving Santa Barbara, we have been busy visiting friends & family along the west coast, and eating all the Mexican food we can get our hands on (rumor has it they don't speak enchilada back east.) On Tuesday morning, we fly to DC.
Packing up the kids' clothes has made me realize how very west coast we are. Cal's wardrobe, for instance, consists entirely of board shorts, surfing designs, Quicksilver logos, etc.
Worried we might look out of place when we arrive at our nation's capitol, I picked up a few things this week to help us blend in with the locals.
Thank goodness for my foresight, and for after-holiday sales. Otherwise we might look ridiculous.

You guys look great. But I'm a little worried by Jack's conspicuous absence. Is he not interested in blending with the locals?
ReplyDeletehoney it is so wicked humid out here board shorts and tank tops will fit right in. You might be a little under prepared come winter but that is what Target and Costco are for.
ReplyDeleteThough you all do, indeed, look FABULOUS and will blend RIGHT IN without any worry of being conspicuous, I must say that the outfit I'm partial to is Cal's. No bias, or anything...
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you! Can't wait to see how funny you are in DC! ;D
ReplyDeleteJUST STUNNING! REALLY! That picture is screaming patriotism! Can you enter that in a contest? When did Cal grow up so fast? He's like a little boy now and not a baby! Your kids are just darling.
ReplyDeleteOh no you di-in't! I can't believe you have abandoned your California ways so quickly. I don't think you'll be so successful at keeping up this "No, really, we're East Coasters" charade through the winter; Cal will be rocking those board shorts under his snow pants, and you'll declare a January beach day, turn up the heater to 82 degrees and bring the sandbox inside. Just wait and see.
ReplyDeleteA family this cute will NEVER "blend in".
ReplyDeleteCan I have a copy of this to hang on my bulletin board?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your insider's guide to Santa Barbara! Especially the part about student family housing. I feel the exact same way and recommend it to anyone going to graduate school! You are SO funny! I added you to my blog roll, so that I can get my Katie fix whenever you post. :)
ReplyDeleteps you look like you guys might fit in better living in the Midwest. ;)
Ordinary people wear ordinary clothes. We are not ordinary, obviously. I am beyond excited for you guys and your move! I also have a nagging fear that I missed you while you were in town.
ReplyDeletequite jealous of your awesome shades...
ReplyDeleteI love the cubs shirt on Cal. I swear my husband will not be able to find enough Chicago gear for our baby. I hope you guys love it out there. The 4th of July in DC is the best.
ReplyDeleteBest. Picture. Ever. What a FUN mom you are {I don't dare tell my kids...they'll feel like they're getting jipped!} Sadly...the east coasters really don't speak 'enchilada' like they do out here. In fact...I never ate so much mexcian in my LIFE until I moved to AZ. Now...I can't live without it. Email me when you get into Fairfax. My favorite Chinese restaurant EVER is there. It is a MUST!!! And I know a couple of other yummy little joints as well. How fun for your cute family!!! Have I mentioned I am jealous? I'm thinking Joe and I now have the perfect excuse to fly back and visit again!
ReplyDeleteDC just got a whole lot cooler in my opinion! (Luckier too!)
ReplyDeleteOh you guys won't stick out like a sore thumb at all... Please tell me you rolled into DC in that getup! Best 4th of July outfits I've ever seen!!
ReplyDeleteCan I borrow Cal's hat?
