1987. This is my 2nd grade class picture. The photographer thought it would be a good idea to reflect the sun directly into our eyes. I agree.
.
.
That's me in the front row, 2nd from the right. I thought it would be a good idea to wear my pinstripe jeans - the ones with faded knees, of course, and pink "bears at a pizza parlor" sweatshirt. I wonder if my mom agreed.
In the top row, far right, is my first crush. Awwwww. Isn't he so handsome? (even when blinded by the sun?) He was smart too. And, the undefeated recess tetherball champ. What more could a girl want??
You never forget your first crush.
Good thing, because today is our 8-year anniversary.
Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteLet me add...
I'm digging out all of my kids class pictures... the thought that they have met "the one" already leaves me in a feeling of despair. There has not been a single tetherball champion in their midst. Not one!!!!
Wait... no tetherballs in the playgrounds either.
So... I guess I should check and see about four-square champtions, yes?
Happy Anniversary! I love the outfit you were sporting for picture day.
ReplyDeleteI got the chills when you said that bit about good thing you never forget!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a great life and marriage 8 years into the show. You make a great pair, constantly entertaining the freighbors.
What did you get yourself?
Happy anniversary to my dear friend! I should have known then he was the one, he was the only boy you didn't have me deliver a break up note to.
ReplyDeleteI picked you out immediately, but Jack took me a little longer to find.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm taking this as a cautionary tale, as in: beware who your kid is friends with in 2nd grade. Your family might be stuck with them for a long time.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! We are so lucky that Jack has been in our family for 8 years!
ReplyDeletePinstripe jeans and "bears at a pizza parlor sweatshirt"-----that's how "famous" kids dressed in 1986. :)
Not only was the sun in your eyes a great photography technique, but snapping the photo when half of the kids were saying "cheese" is what made this guy a master at his trade! I am glad you have been apart of our family for 8 years now... longer if you count being "a half Erb" back in California your senior year (even the Ghent boy knew you would somday be an Erb) :) Love you two very much!
ReplyDeleteOkay, my FAVORITE POST of the year!
ReplyDeleteHow many married people an say tehy met in first grade? And to see the class picture--I LOVE this. I love you guys. H.A.!
Love the faded knees. Maybe that's why the photographer put you in the front row.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Happy anniversary you two little lovebirds!
Happy anniversary. And that class picture is AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Katie & Jack!
ReplyDeleteThat picture is priceless, that is AMAZING that it all began back at Copperwood...who could have imagined.
Sweet, 1987. That's the year I was born.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated anniversary to you both!
ReplyDeleteI loved your class picture. I just found mine about three weeks ago and was considering a post back then. I was horrified to see I wore an oversized wrinkled surf shirt. Mom, how could you do this to me?!
NO WAY! I had no idea you were in the same elementary school! Where have I been! Congrats on the 8 years! P.S. are you surviving in SB? I got really nervous for you when I watched the news this morning.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! That is so sweet and cool that you have known him for so long.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I had a sweatshirt almost just like that. You are cool.
I hope that you are surviving the fires, it does not look pretty from the photos I have seen.
Happy late anniversary, Katie and Jack! That's is so sweet that you were in elementary school together. :0)
