Oblogatory Halloween Pics

.
.

For his first Halloween, Cal wanted to dress as his Grandpa Jack, a college football official (yes, Grandpa Jack is the handsome Head Linesman you’ve seen on ESPN). Unfortunately, infant head linesman costumes are hard to come by (skeletons and sweet peas as far as the eye can see. Not a thing for aspiring referees).

So, our Jack customized one himself. Ladies, that shirt is hand painted! (That Jack! Don’t let the backward baseball hats or affection for Sunday football fool you. He is a crafty, crafty man.) He’s also responsible for Minnie’s custom headpiece.

And while we’re rolling the Halloween credits…I’d like to also thank Aunt Aileen for the Minnie Mouse dress, and tazcat1032. Tazcat1032 is the heavy smoker who sold us Jolie’s entire Tinkerbell getup on Ebay for only 15 bucks. It’s a good thing she looks so cute in it, Tazcat. Because, my gosh, she smells like tobacco.

  1. I wish those cute little kids could come knocking at my door this halloween... They would walk away with a whole bag of candy each, way too cute! Maybe next year my little one will get to be a smoking tinkerbell as well... Bauer is going to be a King this halloween, you better believe pictures will be up soon! He HATES his costume, but it's probably because he wanted to be "Grandpa Jack" and got really jealous when he saw Cal's costume! I miss and love you all lots! Have fun trick or treating!

  3. I am laughing. Really laughing. Thanks for the post. Now I am off the the ward Halloween party with a banana, a dalmatian, and a vampire. My kids wouldn't let me dress up. They wanted me to go as myself! Whatever, let's just get there and fill our bodies with chili and candy.

  6. Well, maybe the thought of the aromas stuck to other Halloween apparel in your neighborhood by the end of the night will make your Tinkerbell's second hand smoke stink pale in comparison. After all, most people leave IV smelling much worse than stale smoke.

  7. it's about time you blog again. Cute costumes! And I am impressed by Jack's craftiness. And, because I know you appreciate my secret love for terrible reality tv, did you hear who the next Bachelor is!?

  8. Okay, first Cal is ADORABLE! And I am sure that Grandpa Jack loves it. He will be even more unbearable! ;D

Second, never EVER buy a Disney costume on Ebay without calling me first!! We have a Tinkerbell costume from two years ago that is almost that cute and absolutely doesn't smell like Tobacco! Okay, well maybe a little bit! ;D And it could have been yours for the low low price of dressing Cal up like me for Halloween! ;D

  11. Message received: real men craft. I'm texting my Honeykins as we speak.

But in all seriousness, I'm very sad I'd never thought of the referee when my hooligans were littles. To DIE for.

  15. Thank you tazcat1032. Seems like you could have taken just tazcat but maybe nos. 1-1031 were taken.

They really were adorable, and I am touched by the hand painting on the ref costume. Really, very touched.

  16. Cal will need to be wearing some pretty heavy body armour if I ever get to meet him, because I want to tackle him and squish him. I seriously love your children. Even if they smell like cigas.

  17. You gotta love a man who won't stand for a less than perfect Halloween costume for his son. I think all these hidden talents need to go on his resume! Doctorate shmoctorate, I think finger puppet and costume fabricator would give him the edge!

  18. I like how Leah is covering her nose in the last picture, it really brings to life the aroma of Tinkerbell's dress.

The kids are super adorable once again Kate. Thanks for posting so I could tell you that. Could you have another baby for me to drool over already?

  20. Hi Katie,

I love you blog! What kind of camera do you have? Do you like it? I am looking into getting a new one for Christmas perhaps. We'll see how generous the elves are this year.
