Grader

Jolie started first grade this week. Since her last day of kindergarten, Jack & I have been talking up the transition she would be making to "grader," telling her what an exciting responsibility it is to attend school full day, ride the bus, use the sharp scissors, etc.

Unfortunately, in my eagerness to prepare her (and myself) for this next step out of our nest, I made a couple of mistakes.

First, I made the mistake of telling her she was now old enough to pick out her own clothes.
.

Then, I made the mistake of taking her with me to Walmart,

where I made the mistake of walking past the Hannah Montana display.

Sigh. I could argue her taste, but I could never argue with the total confidence she felt picking it out. So, I put my hands up.

They're playing my song,

And the butterflies fly away.

I think she looks ravishing! Julia would surely agree.

How do you feel about arranged marriages? No reason.

Cuz Char Char is nodding his head like yeah.

Hannah Montana wishes she was this cute...

But let me add a little realism... it could be worse...

I have no doubt that she was the best dress kid in 1st grade! Love it!

Love the outfit. She's such a cutie! My step-daughter is also a 1st grader and picked out those exact same shoes! Silly girls.

She is going to be the most popular girl in first grade! Nothing says cool in 1st grade like sparkles! I can't tell you how many times since the school started 3 weeks ago Livi has asked me for those shoes.

What??? You don't love her outfit? She is totally stylish. I love it.

You're officially THE COOLEST mom ever if you let her wear all her bling on her first day. So hot.

I'm seeing hints of a really cute house behind all that bling... Pictures please!! :)

Is that Niagra Falls Blue I see in the background?

Jolie is adorable, as always. Extra bling doesn't hurt either. But I do hope the Hannah Montana rage is over by the time Maddie heads to school.

All she needs to do now is decide which retailer she will ALLOW to carry her first line of originals by Jolie! She is too cute Katie!

You are way more fun than I am. Jane got converse instead of twinkle toes, a generic pink shirt instead of a Hanna Montana one, we're looking for a reasonable trench coat instead of a vest and the hat wasn't even an option. I can never EVER let Jane see those photos or she'll accuse me of being the worst mom ever.

LOVE IT!!! Just make sure you move out here to KC for 2nd grade because I am DYING for her to walk in my classroom dressed like that next year!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!

How can Jolie be so cute!? Andrew and I still talk about her when we see Doyle's friends- too bad they aren't as cute as Jolie!

My Kindergartener wore something similar to that today, except he's a boy. For some reason, I couldn't bring myself to care. Maybe because I don't pick up today?

Athea has the exact same shoes her dad bought for her.

Why didn't I have Jolie pick out MY first day of school outfit??

Jolie can come raid my closet ANY day. Those digs are exactly what I would have worn when I was going into the first grade.

I am loving getting caught up on your posts! Washington is the next best place to live outside of the Philippines right now.

Tell you kids congrats for being so scrumptious.

The more I know of you Katie, the more I like you! :) Love your blog, love that you get to be Ellie's teacher, and love that you let your kids dress themselves. Jolie and Ellie could put on quite a fashion show together!

How did I ever miss this adorable post? Can you please ship Jolie straight to AZ so she can be London's personal stylist? Better yet...send her back with Joe!
