Putting it Mildly: Jack Loves Sports

l

I grew up with a dad and brother who loved nothing more than watching sports. So, when I married Jack I felt very prepared. I don't start conversations during Game 7, I barely notice when he's yelling at a ref on TV and, frankly, I expect him to spent entire Sundays watching 18 holes of golf. I get it.

However.

Yesterday while taking a nap, I was awaken by screaming. Screaming. Like, Eli Manning just threw a touchdown pass in the final moments of the Super Bowl screaming. I ran into the room, certain that either (1) We had won the lottery, or (2) The Lakers had been given some kind of second chance against the Celtics, and had won. By one point. With a three point shot. In the last second of play.

Instead, I found Jack watching

a European

SOCCER match

Turkey

vs

CROATIA

Huh. Who knew he was such a fan??
.

While I'm here....All my friends blogged touching tributes to their husbands on Father's Day. Does this count?

I love you Jack. I really hope Turkey goes all the way.

  1. Classic. You forgot to mention the time you labored in the hospital yourself while he was . . ., you can tell the rest.

  3. Jack and Jeff would get along just fine, not only does he watch the major sports, and yes even soccer (he feels it's his duty, being part italian and all). But now he watches boxing! When does it end!

  4. Just so you all know... the Turkey vs. Croatia game was a good one!! And Croatia should have won!

This coming from a mom whose 14 year old daughter/soccer-star-in-the-making couldn't take her eyes off the game... and who did her fair share of yelling!!!

  5. Nice. Now you have to tell us the story about when you were in labor. Don't leave out the details Kate.

  6. ...But for the record I was hoping that you won the lottery. Go Turkey.

  8. Aww! I like being called a favorite, even though I know your attention is equally divided. :) Thump Thump memories way past the girls bed time! Fabulous. So Todd was excited about this particular blog about Jack because he happened to be watching the exact same game and screaming at the exact same moment. I love how males can bond trans-nationally without any form of contact. It's sort of sweet....
